New Boiler Plus Regulations
Did you know that from April 2018 any new boiler installation in England will need to adhere to an updated set of regulation? These regulations will mean that all new boilers will be required to meet some increased energy efficiency measures.
All boilers installed from April 2018 will need an ErP efficiency rating of 92% or higher. Roughly a third of the boilers on the market today fall short of this standard.
The new regulations – called Boiler Plus – also require all new gas and oil boilers to include a programme timer and a thermostat so that you can effectively control your heating. While the majority of homes do have this, it wasn’t a requirement until now.
Further to this every combi boiler installation must also include one additional energy-saving measure. This could be a Smart Thermostat, Weather Compensating Thermostat, Load Compensating Thermostat or a Flue Gas Heat Recovery System. All of these measures will help to make boilers more efficient, cutting the cost of heating your home.
The Warmer Homes Heating and Renewables team are all fully qualified in the installation of gas, oil and LPG heating systems.
